The Division of Continuing and International Education (DCIE) offers a variety of credit courses / credit certificate programs and non-credit courses / professional certificates for students who would like to explore engaging topics through an online learning environment.
Designed for the busy professional, credit certificate programs concentrate on a specific topic, allowing the student to focus on professionally enhancing subject matter. Credits earned from a credit certificate program may be applied to a degree; check with your academic advisor to confirm.
The Certificate program in Enrollment Management is designed for working professionals who have an undergraduate degree and seek career enhancing credentials and skills.
A Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in Higher Education is required to enroll.
Please note: A student may transfer credits from the online Certificate Program in Enrollment Management (EM) to the on campus master's program in Higher Education Administration once they meet the minimum requirements for admission to the on campus master's program. Students in the on campus master's program will not be permitted to take online course offerings designated for the online certificate program in EM.
UM Employees/Dependents tuition remission benefit will not be applied towards this program.

Course Overview:
This course is designed for college and university professionals and for those considering a career in recruitment, financial assistance, student services, or administrative positions in higher education. The focus will be on recruiting, marketing communications, marketing research, student retention, strategic enrollment management, strategic planning and the best practices to create an effective team-based and integrated enrollment management program. Students will be exposed to theoretical models in order to complete a number of case studies. They will also produce three article reviews. The goal is to enable the students to design their own model to develop effective enrollment management strategies and policies.

The focus of this course is on historic, organizational and leadership aspects of enrollment management. The course explores the principles and practices of enrollment management. Having an understanding of the historical and philosophical foundations of enrollment management, awareness of recruitment and retention issues, and an insight into the role of the administrator in enrollment management are prerequisites for this seminar. Students will explore a step-by-step approach to marketing and enrollment management with an emphasis on developing and implementing a marketing plan for promoting enrollment.

A requirement in the Higher Education/Enrollment Management Certificate Program, this course provides a framework for the analysis of contemporary issues affecting higher education. Main points covered will be analysis, conceptual treatment, and application of the knowledge acquired in the field. Students will be engaged in discussing the merits of a chosen point of view in their analysis; developing a philosophical position regarding the issue analyzed; evaluating current literature on the issue; writing a persuasive research paper related to the issue. The goal of this course is to offer a grasp of themes throughout the literature as they relate to the issues discussed in the seminar.
