Danielle K. Houck, MFA, has taught writing at the University of Miami, Miami University, and Miami-Dade College. She served as Chair of the Creative Writing Department at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville, Florida, from 2003-2005. She teaches composition and business communication courses as a full-time lecturer at UM, as well as creative writing courses at the Osher Institute.

Professor Johnson’s teaching and research mostly centers around postcolonial writing and theory. Her other interests include writing in the sciences and philosophical writing. Her PhD. research examines the effects on the English landscape and Englishness by Caribbean texts. Professor Johnson is a member of Caribbean Literary Studies group here at UM.

Dr. Leticia Oropesa is a full-time lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Miami. Dr. Oropesa earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education from Florida International University; and Master of Arts and Doctor of Arts degrees in Mathematics from the University of Miami. In addition to teaching, Dr. Oropesa is the Coordinator for Freshmen Mathematics courses and Math Placement.

Jacquelyn Sartan |
Jacquelyn Sartan has a Masters in Geography, Geographic Information Systems and Physical/Environmental Geography. She also has two Bachelors in Communications and Meteorology/Climatology. She most recently was a federal employee working as a Meteorologist for the Air Force Research Labs at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts and a Geographer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Arthur M. Simon, J.D., Ph.D. is a full time lecturer in the UM Department of Political Science. He holds business and law degrees from the University of Miami, a master's degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in public administration from Florida State University. As a practicing attorney, he represented clients in state and federal courts of appeals and also the Florida Supreme Court; he served twelve years in the Florida Legislature; he worked eight years as a senior manager in the Florida Department of Banking and Finance; and he worked as a legislative and executive branch lobbyist.
